The winning home run was hit in the bottom of the ninth at the New York Polo Grounds by the Giants’ third baseman Bobby Thomson, in the 1951 National League playoffs between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants.

With two men on base, Thomson’s home run changed the score from Dodgers 4, Giants 2, to Giants 5, Dodgers 4.
